Red is the Color of Love
I'm in love. Yes, I am happily married and in love with my husband. But I'm having a torrid passionate affair with the loveliness known as the Pochette Metis Infrarouge. Louis Vuitton has a history, dating back to the Marc Jacobs days, of playing with the beloved brand heritage monogram. Anyone remember the Murakami multicoleur? The eclipse? Or the monogramouflage? Current creative director Nicholas Ghesquiere is clearly fond of injecting color into the brand, and one of his monogram variations is a black & red color combo known as infrarouge. It first debuted in 2015 adorning boots, ballerina slippers, the Insolite wallet, a soft Alma bag, a Petite Malle, and one of my favorites, the sadly discontinued Dora handbag. Since that time, infrarouge has made a few guest appearances, namely in a Resort collection Twist bag combining infrarouge with a black & white palm motif. Sadly, I missed out on all of those releases. Still kicking myself for not snatching up a pair of the ballerina flats when I had the chance!
But I'm no longer sad about missing out because today we're here to talk about the brand new limited edition Pochette Metis released in December 2016. The regular monogram version of the bag made waves in the past year when it was sold out nationwide. A favorite amongst bloggers and street style aficionados, the Pochette Metis is a terminally cute, functional, lightweight, versatile bag. It comes with a removable adjustable shoulder strap that's long enough for cross-body, a top handle for elegant carry, and its size makes it easy to also carry as a clutch. The interior is surprisingly spacious for a bag with a small profile, and the multiple pockets make it a snap to organize your stuff. An exterior rear pocket comes in handy for storing your cell or keys for quick access.
The Pochette Metis checks all my boxes for a bag you can carry easily and endlessly in style. That being said, as soon as I heard this new classic would be issued in infrarouge, I jumped at the chance to get one for myself. Not a fan of red? The pochette metis also comes in a limited edition reverse monogram and the classic monogram for a more subtle look.
